Game jam theme: Anhad

Anhad, or immeasurable, an unattainable, imperceptible concept that constantly pushes us to surpass ourselves.

In our game, Anhad is approached as infinity, and every aspect of the game has been conceived from this principle of immensity, elusiveness and solitude? Faced with this notion, how can we avoid feeling alone when we realize that total fulfillment is out of reach?

Our character, a shadow in search of light, fades more and more as time goes by.

His goal is simple: to fill this perpetually evanescent void.

To do so, he must gather will-o'-the-wisps from the rubble of a civilization now extinct.

The symbolic choice of the will-o'-the-wisp as a source of vital energy was not insignificant from an artistic point of view. It symbolizes the unattainable and the elusive. The will-o'-the-wisp is a faint, flickering light, often associated with natural phenomena such as flammable gas escaping from swamps. It is often used as a metaphor for something fleeting, elusive or illusory.

People of the past depicted the will-o'-the-wisp as a legend, highlighting its mythical, ephemeral aura.

Our character wanders among ruined monuments, remnants of a people once inhabited by a desire for grandeur and immensity. The concept of Anhad takes on its full meaning.

We also chose to work this infinity into the technical aspects of the game,

Being a runner, the game can be played ad infinitum, and the very principle of the game is to surpass previous successes and go further and further, without ever being able to reach an end.

Given the nature of the theme, it seemed natural to turn to Sanskrit: we interpreted Anhad through Jyotih, the light, and chose this name.

What could be more elusive than Jyotih, a concept that is both visible and imperceptible, unattainable, omniscient, omnipresent? The fundamental principles of Anhad are reflected in Jyotih.
